Charlotte’s Web is a novel for children written by E. B. White. Since its publication, in 1952, this has been a much-loved, popular story for all ages. The story is about a pig by the name of Wilbur and his friendship with a spider, Charlotte. The story is about how this tiny spider named Charlotte goes about saving the life of Wilbur who is about to be slaughtered. This book was made into an animated feature in 1973. In 2003, the sequel to this Charlotte’s Web 2: Wilbur’s Great Adventure was released by Paramount. In 2006, a video game of Charlotte’s Web was also released for the enjoyment of all those who loved the story. Characters in the Novel

For example, Wilbur, who was taken away from his litter at an early age, learns how to look after himself when moved outdoors. Nature also reflects Wilbur’s moods especially on the loneliest day in the barn. The novel explains that it is “rainy and dark”.

Love and friendship are the main foundations of the novel. If Fern did not love Wilbur enough, he would have been slaughtered. Without the love, Charlotte shows for Wilbur he would have been Christmas dinner. This shows that Wilbur’s life is saved twice by love. The friendship between Wilbur and the Charlotte, and their love for each other, is apparent throughout the novel. So many things happen, in the novel, because of the friendship between the two.
